WildBlue Bandwidth Monitor

Monitor and record your Bandwidth Usage

WildBlue Bandwidth Monitor is a utility for WildBlue Internet customers. Log and graph your bandwidth usage with this simple utility.

WildBlue Bandwidth Monitor The WildBlue Bandwidth Monitor automatically grabs and stores your current bandwidth usage every hour, showing only a small WildBlue logo in your system tray. When you open the program, you'll see two simple graphs displaying your current download and upload usage, as well as the numerical representations and timestamp of the last check. Opening the History window will let you list your usage given all past data, displaying it in easy-to-read graphs or grid representations, helping you map out your bandwidth usage and when your usage values will drop. This utility should function correctly with any WildBlue account, regardless of reseller. Please let me know if any errors crop up or you are unable to grab your usage data.

Glad everyone's having a good experience with it. Web Scraping can be an annoyingly unreliable task.

I have downloaded and installed the new version and it works like a charm. Thanks so much!

I have a work-in-progress test program that I need some users to run to make sure it works with multiple WildBlue distributors. Please contact me at wbATRealityRippleDOTcom if you're interested in helping. Thank you.

As mentioned below, WildBlue has changed something fundamental in their system. There's nothing I can do at the moment because I don't have a stable computer to work with right now.

After installing and I press the set acct button, it reads XML read failed. How to fix???

RealityRipple
Jan 20 2012 2:37 PM
Oh, no. I'm off by over $30, it's just that ads or selling my RAM will cover that easily.

Wynter
Jan 20 2012 11:02 AM
I meant if it was $10 dollars more to get you the hardware you need, then I don't mind donation that much

RealityRipple
Jan 20 2012 8:23 AM
That's not how it works... $10 in ads is not $10 in donations. Donations are through PayPal, and I get them instantly, ads are accumulated by Google to $100 before payment. They're as different as apples and sirloin.
The simplest solution will be for someone to buy my RAM, which shouldn't take more than a week or two.

Wynter
Jan 20 2012 1:01 AM
If it's just $10 dollars then I'll donate that much if that's what you need. It's ritual for me to monitor my usage.

RealityRipple
Jan 20 2012 12:58 AM
I'm not sure yet. I haven't attempted to handle a secure HTTP connection through code yet, but it may still be possible. I'm going to have to do some digging around once I get a system to do so with.

*WildBlue changes

Wynter
Jan 19 2012 8:33 PM
Would you be able to get the software working once your computer is up and running or has WilBlue change make it impossible?

RealityRipple
Jan 19 2012 6:52 PM
WildBlue has changed something fundamental, and my computer is non-functional, so I can't do a thing. See the home page for details.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging

For example:

<configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer

The exact issue is that they've moved the XML file to HTTPS through the standard HTTPS port rather than the usual port 8180. The jsp file that controls the flash-based Usage gadget which I read in my program still has port 8180 listed. I will attempt to write some failsafe checks to work around issues like this automatically in the next version.

RealityRipple
Oct 20 2011 6:16 AM
I looked into it. It's WildBlue's problem, not mine. However, it did reveal a little glitch regarding HTTPS URLs. I will be updating again soon, but it will not solve the problem we're experiencing. Only WildBlue can do that.

Those are not alternatives to this product. This is a WildBlue usage limit monitor, not a hardware bandwidth meter. It does not measure your computer or local network activity in the least, it requests the same file the Flash-based app (which WildBlue provides) uses, and stores it for graphing purposes.

Neil

Two free alternatives, Netmeter for Windows and NTM for Linux. google for Netmeter and see soureforge for NTM.
